Gordon Rubard Retirement Open House

gordySaying goodbye to Montana Council Scout Executive, Gordon Rubard will not be an easy task for those of us in Montana Council.

Of course, it is with excitement, support, and enthusiasm we see him onto the next phase of his and Ellie’s adventure. It is impossible, however, to not feel the twinge of sadness that accompanies the departure of a leader and friend.

We hope you can join us at an Open House we are hosting for Mr. Rubard on Wednesday, June 28th at the Great Falls Office from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Come by with stories, well wishes, and good cheer to share as we celebrate Mr. Rubard’s retirement. Light refreshments will be served.

Great Falls, 4th of July Parade.  “United We Stand”

13.july4th.hbscene.070412.msEvery year Scouts in Great Falls participate in the 4th of July Parade.  If Scouts in your unit plan to participate, please contact: dustin.shoemake@scouting.org .

Please respond by 12pm on Monday, June 26th.  If we do not have a sufficient number of Scouts, we will not be able to participate this year.

Who Is the Lewis & Clark District?

The short answer is… YOU ARE!  All Scouts, leaders, and families make up the district.  In fact, everyone in our community is a part of the district.  In Scouting we strive to involve our community in activities and meetings  so our youth have the best possible opportunities and are offered as much as Scouting can offer.

To aid in these efforts, a District Committee is established to plan for activities and ways our Scouts and Leaders can be supported.  This committee should reflect the communities we live in; military, ranching, agriculture, business, retired, education, etc.

To serve our Scouts, take a look at the list of the opportunities for individuals in our community.  If you feel you do not meet any of the listed opportunities, you likely know someone that does.  People may be more willing to help than we think.  Find opportunities by clicking HERE

As a reminder, our district will not be holding District Meeting and Cub Scout & Boy Scout Roundtables in the month of June due to Cub Day camp taking place at the same time.  District Committee chairs will be contacted with progress reports.
We hope to see everyone at Roundtable on July 11th!

Scouts needed for Flag Day ceremonyUS-Flag

Every year Scouts present the colors at Overlook Park on Flag Day.  This year, there has been no commitment from units to participate.  It would be great if we could provide a handful of Scouts to represent their unit. The ceremony begins at 8am on Wednesday, June 14th.
If you are able and willing to participate, please contact Great Falls Realtors at 406-453-2752.

News from Camp Rotary

The snow is falling and gathering ever deeper at camp…..

There is no sound except for the rhythmic crunch, crunch, crunch of a heavy footstep in the snow, the being stops at every window……..peering in…..waiting. The tracks are all over circling the camp. He knows that soon they will be arriving, many of them, unaware of his presence, his patience, his ability to wait…wait…wait. Soon …..it will be soon

Are you ready for what lies in store

At Haunted Klondike?
