Troop and Pack Committee Chairmen/Committee Members:
This position-specific course for Cub Scout pack and Boy Scout Troop committee members is intended to provide members with the basic information they need to support a Scouting Unit and conduct a successful program. This course is conducted based on the five parts of a typical unit committee meeting and is best when delivered at one time to all members of the unit’s committee.
The purpose of the Pack Committee Challenge is to familiarize pack committee members with the various responsibilities of the individual members of the committee as well as the committee as a whole. The goal is to help each pack committee work as a team to improve the Scouting experience for adult and youth members. This course will provide the committee members of a Boy Scout troop the basic information they will need to support a troop and ensure a successful boy-led troop program.
Troop Committee Challenge has been developed to help troop committee members better understand their roles and responsibilities and help them deliver the promise of Scouting.
There will be a one-hour combined session for both courses to discuss questions on unit finance. This session will be led by a local certified public accountant with experience as a Scouting unit treasurer.
Instructors: Cub Committee: To Be Announced
Scout Committee: Rex Jewett, Lewis and Clark District Commissioner
Guest Discussion on Finance: Wendy Weissman, CPA. Mrs. Weissman has over twenty years of experience in public accounting with multiple non-profit boards, and over five years experience as the treasurer of Cub and Boy Scout units.
