For those participating in the 4th of July Parade, first of all thank you! We are 3rd in line in the front of the parade this year. Scouts, scouters, siblings and any and all other volunteers will meet at 618 Park Drive South (near Double G Engraving off of 2nd Street South) at 10:00 a.m. on Friday July 4, 2014. We have plenty of parking available at this location for everyone. It is a short walk to the parade route from there. Please make sure your scouts wear plenty of sunscreen, a hat and drink plenty of water. Also, bring your pack and/or troop flag. We will have a trailer set up to haul and display all of our unit flags during the parade and we will also have several coolers full of bottled water and ice on the trailer. Come on out and show your patriotism during this annual Great Falls event and help the Lewis and Clark District, Boy Scouts of America, give back to the community. Last year we had over 130 participants. Lets set a record this year!! Hope to see you all on Friday and please call me direct with any questions.
Lewis and Clark District
Calling All Arrowmen!
The Ne I Yahw Chapter of Apoxky-Aio Lodge will be holding our Summer social and welcome to new Ordeal members of the Order at Elks Riverside Park on the evening of July 8 at 7pm. In addition to playing games and enjoying fellowship, we will also be grilling hot dogs and hamburgers.
Please bring a salad or some chips to share. If someone could be in charge of bringing us some cold drinks, that would also be very much appreciated. Oh, more frisbees = more fun.
This social will replace our regularly scheduled Order of the Arrow business meeting. We normally hold those meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at the Scout office. Please come and join us!
The Lewis & Clark District will hold an emergency meeting on July 1, 2014 to vote on and elect our new District Chairman, Dr. Peter Jennings, and other District Committee Chairmen. All voting members of the district are encouraged to attend. The meeting is scheduled at the usual time of 7:30 pm at the LDS Stake Center, 1015 15th Avenue South. If you are unable to attend, you may submit your vote prior to the election by email to email@example.com, or via phone at 406 403-5675. For a complete list of electable District Committee Chairmen or if you have any questions, please direct them to District Executive Dustin Shoemake via email. We have some exciting things taking place in the Lewis & Clark District and we’d love everyone to be a part of it! See you Tuesday!

The 2014 Hands Across the Border is a GO! A few dedicated Scouter’s have stepped forward to take on this event and continue the tradition. I will be doing just the administration for the event so please make sure you send all the registration and payments to me. The Forest Department has graciously given us the entire campground again this year at no cost. Attached is the necessary information and forms to brief your units. If I have missed someone please forward the information.

Fellow Scouters and friends,
Dawn Holt, wife of past council president Gregg Holt, passed away on Saturday, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dawn was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. The Holt family has been “all in” with Scouting for many decades, and on all levels of Scouting – the unit, district, council, region, national and international.
A funeral service for Dawn will be held at 1PM this Wednesday, June 18, at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 600 Third Avenue North, Great Falls.
Cards and notes may be sent to the family home: 916 25th Ave SW, Great Falls, MT 59404.
Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Yours in Scouting,
The Lewis and Clark District, Boys Scout of America, have been asked to present the colors, in the form of the “Big Flag” from Overlook Park, during the singing of the National Anthem at the start of the Great Falls Voyagers vs. Helena Brewers baseball game on July 4, 2014. Participants will meet at the stadium no later than 6:30 p.m. All Scouts and Scouters are asked to be in full field (Class A) uniform for the event. All who participate will be allowed to stay for the game and the spectacular fireworks show after the game. This is always a sold out event. If you would like to participate, please RSVP District Chairman Bill Rutten at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 406 750-1632, no later than June 20, 2014, to reserve your seat at the stadium. This is another excellent opportunity for the Lewis and Clark District Scouts to provide a community service to the city of Great Falls, the Great Falls Voyagers, to be recognized and enjoy a great baseball game and fireworks show. Hope to see you all at the ballpark.
I am pleased and honored to announce the Lewis and Clark District, Boys Scout of America, have once again been asked to lead the Great Falls 4th of July Parade carrying the “Big Flag” from Overlook Park. The parade begins at 11:00 a.m. on Friday July 4, 2014, and winds through downtown along an approximately 16 block route. This is an all hands on deck event and is open to all registered Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing Scouts, Adult Leaders and Siblings in the Lewis and Clark District. Lots of Scouts and Scouters, over 100+, will be needed to take the 50’ x 30’ flag up and down the parade route! Last year we had approximately 145 volunteers carry the flag. It was a very impressive showing.
We will meet at 618 Park Drive South (near Double G Engraving off of 2nd Street South) at 10:00 a.m. on July 4, 2013.
All Scouts and Scouters are asked to be in full field (Class A) uniform for the parade. This is another excellent opportunity for the Lewis and Clark District Scouts to provide a community service to the city of Great Falls and to be recognized. Come celebrate and show your patriotic and scout spirit by attending this special annual event. Please consider making the time to show your patriotism and your support of Scouting by taking part in this event. It would be wonderful to have several representatives from every unit in the District in attendance. If you are able to participate, please RSVP as a Unit, to District Chairman Bill Rutten at email@example.com as soon as possible to ensure we have enough people to carry the flag. Thank you in advance for all you do for the Scouts of the Lewis and Clark District.
