Boy Scout Leader Specific Training

The Lewis and Clark District will be offering Boy Scout Leader Specific Training on Saturday, February 15, 2014, from 8 am until approximately 3 pm at the Montana Council Scout Office, 820 17th Avenue South. Please bring a sack lunch.

The course is intended to provide troop leadership with the information and tools they need to lead successful Boy Scout troops. Scoutmasters and assistants who complete this training, Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills, and Youth Protection training are considered “trained.”

Following This Is Scouting, this course is phase two of a new Scoutmaster’s introduction to the BSA and to the responsibilities, opportunities, and resources that will ensure a successful troop leadership experience. The course addresses the needs of adults who have recently accepted the responsibility of delivering the Scouting program to youth by serving as Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters. For many, this will be an introduction to the rewards and challenges of troop leadership. Others may have held leadership positions in Cub Scouting, Venturing, or on troop, district, or council committees, and have come to this training well versed in what Scouting has to offer. The sessions of Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training are thorough and comprehensive. Participants will be enthused to discover the essentials of their leadership positions and to realize that they can easily become successful Scout leaders.
