Cub Scout – JTE Scorecards
Boy Scout – None. No participation.
The meeting was opened at 7:30 pm with approximately 10 in attendance. Thanks to all units in attendance and a request from Bill for every unit in the District to have a representative attend the District Meeting and Roundtables.
Minutes of the September meeting were approved after a request from Glenda Burton to publish the Cub Day Camp dates for individual ranks on the District Calendar. Sandy Bechard volunteered to post dates on calendar.
Welcome, Introductions and Recognitions – Bill thanked the camping committee for another excellent campout. Bill welcomed the new District Executive Dustin Shoemake.
Old/New Business Upcoming Events – Popcorn sales continue through October 20, 2013. Recharters begin October 1, 2013 and are due October 31, 2013; JOTA at MRSC October 18-20, 2013; Hoot and Holler Cub Fall Day Camp at Fort Benton Fair Grounds, October 26, 2013.
Upcoming Training – Leader Specific Training October 12, 2013, 8-12 for Cub Scout Leaders, 8-4 for Boy Scout leaders (bring lunch) at the Scout office. Keith Hasbrouck will conduct Boy Scout Leader training and Aaron Weissman will conduct Cub Scout Leader training.
Committee Reports – Camping: Tim stated the committee is currently looking for a venue for Klondike. Advancement/Eagle Board: Tim stated there was one project approval and one project completed this month. Currently have eleven projects on going. Tim stated he is still working with MT Council to develop Lowes $100 gift card applications to distribute to Eagle Scout candidates completing projects. JOTA: Steve Boyd discussed JOTA at MRSC October 18-20, 2013. Radio MB will be offered. Units are encouraged to camp at MRSC during the JOTA weekend. Popcorn: Bill for Devin Hartley stated unit popcorn chairs are asked to get their weekly reports to Devin Hartley, email@example.com or 781-8332, on Fridays 10/4, 10/11, 10/18. Six mystery house prizes of 25 scout bucks each will be placed the third week of the sale. Still need units to cover Power, Highwood, Simms and Ft. Shaw. Let Devin know if you can help. Please mark calendars for November 7 or 8, 2013. Popcorn delivery at Big R warehouse. Will need help sorting popcorn for unit pick up. Hoot and Holler Fall Cub Day Camp: Bill stated cost is $5 and runs from 0830-noon. Contact Dustin to register units. Also, looking for volunteers to help. OA: Tanner Dodge stated OA completed Fall Fellowship last weekend and thanks Tim Locke for his assistance. OA has elected new officers, Chief Tanner Dodge; Vice Chief Matt Ferry; Secretary Tanner Coppenhaver; Ceremony Chief Gage Hilyard; Treasurer Vacant. Tanner also stated Cub Scout Units need to contact OA to schedule cross over ceremonies. OA dues of $10 are due to the Scout Office. Cub Day Camp: Ken Roberts stated next year’s theme is a “Bugs Eye View” and they are anticipating having 18 program stations/periods.
District Executive Report – Dustin provided his phone number, 406 403-5675 and email firstname.lastname@example.org. Also stated he is currently working on membership and budget numbers and will be reaching out to units to schedule recruitment nights. Please get all new membership applications into the Scout Office.
District Commissioner Report – Rex stated units can access the recharter website beginning today and are reminded units recharters packages are due October 31, 2013. JTE Scorecards should be turned in with your recharter packages. Rex also stated the Districts Boy Scout advancement and service hours are still lacking. Contact your Unit Commissioner for assistance. Rex also announced a College of Commissioner Science course in Havre, MT on November 2, 2013.
District Chair Report – Bill announced the urgent need to fill the following District positions: Training Chair, Membership Chair, Public Relations Chair and Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner. If you or anyone you know is interested, please have them contact me ASAP. Thank you to all the Units who regularly attend the District Meetings and Roundtables. L&C District is planning on providing a Dunk Tank at the Montana Council Camporee in Lewistown, MT June 19-22, 2014. Bill also stated local video game studio Team Kaizen has agreed to teach new game design merit badge at Pow Wow in January 2014.
