It is time to recruit new scouts for the coming year of scouting. It is a perfect time to try and get scouts to join our organization. They can use the busy summer schedule to get ahead in their books and make sure they earn rank in a timely manner. A lot of people wait until the start of school to join because they don’t know they can join near graduation or end of school year. Please have your scouts help pass on the word and get their friends into to program. Remind your scouts they can earn the recruiter badge by having their friends come join scouting. I have included the flyers that will go out in the wednesday envelopes. Please feel free to print them out and pass them on to anyone who might be interested in joining. I am the P.O.C for this event and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If someone would like to join but can’t make the date, they can contact the scout office at 761-6000 to find out what pack to contact.
Please contact Kyle Roberts to schedule a boy talk to help generate support.

To date, the District has only received 10 RSVP’s from those who will be attending the 2013 Lewis and Clark District Awards Banquet. Please RSVP Deb Kemper ASAP in order to ensure enough food, etc. This is a catered event this year and I hope to see you all in attendance.
You are cordially invited to attend the Lewis and Clark District Awards Banquet on May 3, 2013, at 6 PM. The Banquet will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 610 2nd Ave North (2nd Ave N and 6th Street across from Perkins).
Something new this year, our very own Bob Dowdy will be catering BBQ beef brisket, baked beans, rolls, green salad and cake. Coffee and ice water will also be available.
Please RSVP Deb Kemper via email email@example.com or phone 799-6620 by April 19, 2013, regarding your attendance and the number in your party. Please also pass this along to your fellow scouters that do not have access to the blog.
We are asking Units to bring their unit flags for display. Troop 7 will conduct the flag ceremony to open the event.
On behalf of the Lewis and Clark District Awards committee, we thank you for a wonderful year of scouting and we look forward to seeing all of you at the Banquet to celebrate your efforts and hard work.

We will be having Outdoor Leader Skills, Outdoor WEBELOS Leader Skills and BALOO training this weekend. The training location is at the Log Gulch Camp Ground located at Holter Lake. This is the second camp ground as you drive down the south east road entering the area leading towards the Beartooth WMA. The same location as this weekend’s Boy Scouts Trail to First Class. Scoutmasters and Asst Scoutmasters have an overnight requirement, so you will need to camp out. This can be accomplished either Friday or Saturday night or both whichever is easier for you. All OWLS and BALOO attendees need to show up at 8 am on Saturday. If you want to join us Friday by all means join the fun. Saturday, we will have opening ceremonies at about 0830 am and start our training. The training should be done by 3pm and then we will go into the WEBELOS specific items after. The curriculum is the same as OLS just have to add the WEBELOS outdoor activities at the end. Everything should wrap up between 4 and 4:30 pm. Things to consider, you will be required to cook a meal (lunch) after your cooking class. It cannot be a hotdog/hamburger (no cheating) this needs to be with substance. BALOO attendees can build foil packs if you want to. Bob Dowdy is teaching the cooking and you get graded on your meal. I made venison stew with potatoes, carrots and onions when I went through. This is really going to be a good time and we have collected some really great instructors for this. Hope to see you all there. If you have questions just give me a call 406-868-7892
