Welcome, introductions and recognitions – Bill recognized and thanked Thelma and her team for a great Cub Scout Chariot race on Saturday.
Upcoming Events – Unit Recharters are due now! If your unit hasn’t completed the recharter process yet, you need to get it done ASAP! Info will be coming out shortly for this years Merit Badge Pow Wow. Lonnie Adkins is coordinating the MB Pow-wow this year. The Klondike Derby is completely planned and ready to go (the info can be found on the district website here: https://lcdistrictcommittee.wordpress.com/2012/11/06/klondike-derby-2013/). The only question still remaining for Klondike is whether we will have access to the Camp Rotary bathrooms or if we need to bring in Porta-potties. Scout Sunday and Scout Week are coming up quickly, now is the time to plan a unit activity. The District Derby Day is Saturday, March 3rd. Jeff Goble will be coordinating this years’ Derby Day.
Upcoming Training – Commissioner Training will be Saturday December 8th at 10:15am in the basement of the Scout Office, Wood Badge is weekends, May 16-18th and June 6-8th at K-M. Bill and Wayne Thares are already signed up from our District! This is a great opportunity for all of our adult leaders. Wade wants to do a training during the Merit Badge Pow-wow. Youth Protection will be available as well as a winter skills training just in time for Klondike.
Popcorn – Popcorn prizes are now available to be picked up at the Scout Office.
Camping Committee – please read all of the info about the Klondike Derby on the District blog.
Order of Arrow – OA will be holding their Christmas party on Dec 18th at 6pm at Medicine River Scout Center. There will be a gift exchange at the party. The limit for the gift is $15. Also, OA dues are due by the end of this month (please pay Michelle at the Scout Office).
Eagle Board – Three final approvals last month. MaryAnn at the Natatorium has some ideas for Eagle projects, if you are stumped, give a call. Tim made up invitations for the Eagle Reception at the Scout Office on December 20th. He also pointed out that thirteen boys have had Eagle projects approved but not completed in the last 10 years. Going to reach out to those boys to discover what happened.
Day Camp – We have a new volunteer for registration, Andrea Tucker. We still need someone to help fill the role of Program Director.
Other Committee Reports – Deb would like to step down as the Scouting for Food Chair. We need to fill that role.
District Executive Report – Kyle handed out blank JTE forms and reminded everyone that the unit JTEs need to be completed by the end of the year. We reviewed our current District JTE performance. We are currently positioned to finish the year as a gold level District.
District Commissioner Report – Rex reminded everyone that in Boy Scouts a Board of Review shouldn’t be held exclusively for when boys are advancing, they should be quarterly. Scoutmaster should do Boards of Review to see how boys are doing, what they need help with, etc. Make sure to recognize your volunteers!
District Chair Report – At our January District Meeting we will kick-off the 2013 FOS.
Other Business – Aaron reminded all of our Troops to hold one more Court of Honor before the year is over. In addition to needing to recognize our youth, the Council has some room for improvement in our advancement performance for JTE. Also, don’t forget to log your unit’s service project hours.
18 people were in attendance. Next Meeting will be January 8, 2013, 6:30 p.m. at LDS Stake Center, 1015 15th Avenue South.
