Wetter is Better! Last week several scouts from Troops 1, 26 and 28 attended summer camp at Melita Island on Flathead Lake. The weather was perfect, scenery was awesome, food was great and the water temperature was warm. Scouts participated in sailing, motor boating, water skiing, sail boarding, canoeing, kayaking, rowing, swimming, outdoor skills, nature skills, camping, forestry, first aid, environmental science, emergency preparation, life savings, wilderness survival, archery and rifle shooting to name a few. Older scouts participated in the ACE program and were treated to sailing, hiking, water skiing, and white water rafting. Congratulations to troops 1 and 26 for earning the Melita Island Excellence in Camping Ribbon. All of the Boy Scous and leaders had an excellent time.
If your troop is considering attending Melita Island summer camp next year, sign up early as space is limited and camp fills up fast. Several troops were turned away this year. In my opinion, Melita Island is a crown jewel of Boy Scout summer camps right here in our own backyard.
