The 2012 Montana Council Online Auction is running now through June 3rd.
All of the proceeds from the auction not only benefit the Boy Scouts, but the funds raised on each item stay in the local District from where the item was donated. Please go to the auction and check out the items listed this year.
Here in Lewis & Clark District we have over 50 items that have been donated for our benefit. All of the money raised from those items will stay in the Lewis & Clark District to help us continue to grow our program and put on great events.
The auction can be accessed from the Council website, or by clicking the link here: http://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/AuctionHome.action?vhost=montanabsa
One of our more fun auction items this year is the chance to play a round of golf with the district Key 3! Laugh as Kyle screws up a tee shot, mock as Bill misses an easy putt, take pictures of Brian watching his shot land in the water… Bid on that item here: http://www.biddingforgood.com/auction/item/Item.action?id=168244823
As a continued sign of the growth of our Cub Scout program here in the Lewis & Clark District – all of the spots for boys to attend our Day Camp are now full!
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for camp, this is truly going to be an awesome year for Cub Scout Day Camp in Great Falls. It is coming up quickly. I can’t wait to see everyone out at Medicine River Scout Center on the first day of camp. It is going to be spectacular!!!
The Great Falls Association of REALTORS ® has asked for 13-15 or more Boy Scouts, in class A uniforms, to assist with this years Flag Day Ceremony on June 14, 2012, at Overlook Park (under the big flag off of 10th avenue South). The ceremony begins at 8 a.m., includes music, demonstrations, a flyover, raising of the Stars and Stripes and should finish up just before 9 a.m. Scouts are asked to arrive no later than 7:45 am. Last years Flag Day Ceremony was amazing.
Scouts will be asked to assist with the raising of a 30′ x 50′ Flag and to assist with a special flag presentation put on by the Elk’s Club. Scouts will walk approximately 30 feet, each carrying a different flag at appointed times. They will then stand during the rest of the presentation, holding the flag(s). This section of the flag ceremony will last approximately 10-15 minutes.
The Association is planning a practice session on Monday, June 11, 2012, from 6 p.m. until approximately 6:45 p.m. at Overlook Park.
Please contact Kim Martin 799-3145 or firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up or with any questions. You may also contact the Great Fall’s Realtor Flag Project Chair; Marla Merriman 590-7741 or email@example.com.
Thank you in advance for your support of this great project. With the help of the MT Air National Guard and the many generous sponsors, the 30’ x 50’ Flag has been flying proudly in Great Falls since July 4th, 1984.
Today the flag consists of thirteen horizontal stripes, seven red alternating with 6 white. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies. The stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence and Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice.
About 50 Scouts had a great time at the Lewis and Clark District Spring Camporee this weekend. Camp director Forrest LaBelle put on an excellent program, highlighted by a Saturday after climb of McCarty Hill.
Only a few years old, the boys of Troop 14 went home with the Camporee Trophy, their first!
