Roundtables/Training Features of the Month, 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
-Guest speaker giving guest rates and package information for Showdown Ski Area
-The Importance of Friends of Scouting with guest speaker (Scout Executive – Gordon Rubard)
-Journey to Excellence Program information, computation and questions
The meeting was opened at 7:35 pm, Peter Jennings led in the Pledge of Allegiance

Welcome, introductions and recognitions

Old/New Business (break into committee meetings for 15-30 minutes)
Camping Committee – Klondike Derby is January 20-22nd at Camp Rotary outside of Monarch. The details and info can be found here. Parking will be tight, and units will need to bring their own water and wood.
Upcoming Trainings – Merit badge Pow-wow begins January 14th, Wood Badge 2012 sign-ups are still available! The first session of Woodbadge this year is May 17-19 & June 7-9 at Grizzly Base Camp, The council is still taking applications for Powderhorn 2012 which is July23-27,2012 at Grizzly Base Camp. Powderhorn is the BSA high adventure/Venturing training and is also open to Venturing Youth Leadership to attend. If interested, the application and info can be found on the council website: http://www.mtbsa.org.
Eagle Board – Tim reported 2 new Eagle Scouts this month, and one new approved project. That brings the total to 17 new Eagles so far this year!
Day Camp – Cub Day Camp will be June 12-14th. The Day Camp committee is going to designate a back up location “just in case” we encounter a situation such as last year. We are beginning to recruit station leaders, and units need to begin recruiting walk around leaders for the their boys. The goal is to have 3 adults for each youth at camp.
Chariot Race was a huge success! 149 kids and 32 chariots participated. Huge thanks to Thelma and her team, everyone had a great time. In addition we had 3 new boys join and race immediately.
Order of the Arrow – OA Christmas Party is Tues Dec 20th at 6pm in the basement of the Scout Office. There will be a white elephant gift exchange. Spring training is March 2-3rd, location still to be determined. Section conclave is May 18-20 in Belgrade.
District Executive Report
Membership Actual vs. Goal
The year is winding down and we are really close! We currently have 750 registered Scouts compared to 753 at the end of 2010! We are only 4 Scouts away from positive growth, and 25 away from our goal!
Finance Actual vs. Goal
We are the closest we have come in a long time from achieving our FOS goal. We currently have $51,300 and our goal is $54,000. We are only $2,700 away from making our FOS goal in 2011!
District Commissioner Report
Unit Charter Renewal – recharters continue to be challenging. As a district we are only about 40% complete. If your unit has not completed your recharter, or if you have any questions or problems, please call Brian at 590-2233 or Kyle at 868-5648.
Unit Commissioners – We are always looking for dedicated Scouters to help support our units. If you are interested in joining the commissioner staff, please call Brian.
